Albino Atlantic Treasure Coast is the ghost-white expression of Treasure Coast, a Psilocybe cubensis variety named for the stretch of Florida's Atlantic shoreline where the original strain is said to have been collected. Most people in the community shorten it to Albino Treasure Coast, or simply ATC; the "Atlantic" in the name is a nod to that coastline, not a separate strain. The albino form is a grower-isolated mutation of the original, and it has a reputation as one of the heavier-hitting cubensis varieties in circulation.

Dried, the fruits are cream to bone-white with a slightly translucent look, and blue-grey bruising on the stems and cap edges from handling is normal. Caps run small to medium on fairly thick stems. Why are the mushrooms white, and is the blue colouring a problem?
The white colour is the albino trait the strain was selected for, and it stays pale when dried. Blue-grey marks are ordinary bruising from harvesting, drying, and handling, and they simply show more on white fruits than on golden ones. It is expected and not a sign of anything wrong.

I have only tried mushrooms once or twice. Should I start with this strain?
